Hot Weather Means Cool Deals for Budget Travelers

The sun is beating down and it's 110 degrees. Sounds like the perfect vacation spot, right? It is for budget travelers wanting to vacation in style in Scottsdale

Come summer, resorts, spas and attractions roll out the deals to draw tourists to the aptly named Valley of the Sun.

Luxury Scottsdale Resorts Slash Prices All Summer

One of the newest resorts in town, the Intercontinental Montelucia, has room rates starting at $125/night with a $50 resort credit, or an unlimited package for $495/person that includes unlimited dining, drinks and spa treatments in the to-die-for Joya Spa. Offers good June-September.

In North Scottsdale (where it tends to be cooler than in the city) the Four Seasons at Troon Northhas summer rates from $129/night. Stay longer and the third night is free. Specials are in effect from May 20-Sept. 13.

The ultra hip, retro Valley Ho located in Old Town Scottsdale serves up Summer room rates of $99 during the week and $129 on the weekends.

The venerable, five diamond Phoenician has several summer deals including a $149 room rate (must reserve by May 22), stay one night, save 50% off a second night and an unlimited summer golf program.

Scottsdale Hotels Offer Creative Summer Specials

Make plans to spend Memorial Day at the chic, see-and-be-seen, W Hotelin Old Town Scottsdale. The rooftop pool and bar area will host the hottest party in town—an old fashioned BBQ with alternative hip-hop artist, Shwayze performing a private concert. Stay for the entire weekend and your third night is free. Spend Sunday night May 24 at the hotel for just $99. All hotel guests are invited to the party. The W is also hosting Sunday concerts throughout the summer and a firework display on July 4th.

The Wigwam Resortlocated on the far Westside of town is celebrating its 80th anniversary with several ongoing events throughout the summer including Martinis & Manicures the first Thursday of every month. For $20 guests are treated to a mini-manicure from the property’s Red Door Spa, a martini and live music. On the first Saturday of each month the Wigwam serves up its own version of Iron Chef with the Secret Ingredient Cooking Class. Using indigenous Southwest ingredients, participants will work with Chef Kurt Zuger to create an enticing menu. To reserve call 623-856-1032.

The Valley Ho hosts fun at the pool all summer long. On Saturday's DJP Body will spin tunes for hotel guests, but on Friday the public is invited to see the local band "Elvis Before Noon" with no cover. Trader Vic's serves up Happy Hour specials from $1!

The Boulders, a five-star resort in North Scottsdale, is adding to its learning program this summer with three new programs including; The Desert Photo Tour, The Trail of Painted Ponies (an art tour) and The Walk the Rock (geological walk).

The Fairmont Scottsdalehas teamed up with National Geographic to offer the National Geographic Explorers Camp. From May 22 through Sept. 6, kids ages 5-12 can participate in half-day or full-day programs like a desert discovery using GPS to find hidden clues or a photo safari.
